Here at Istead Rise we are very fortunate in having extensive grounds and excellent facilities.

In each classroom you’ll find that the children have plenty of table space to work at and dedicated resources to support their learning. The pupils have access to an interactive whiteboard that is used by staff to enhance the learning environment on a daily basis. There are also dedicated book corners for the children to enjoy the reading experience and in Key Stage One there are role play areas too. Colourful display boards hang in every classroom showcasing the children’s work as well as supporting them with their learning. The whole school community takes pride in the appearance of our classes and every week there is an inter class competition for the tidiest classroom award.

Apart from classrooms we also have two halls, a fully functional kitchen and a swimming pool. Our halls are used for lessons, assemblies and for dining purposes. Our kitchen is staffed by our own catering team who create tasty nutritionally balanced seasonal menus. During the summer the children from Year 2 to Year 6 have the opportunity to take swimming lessons in our pool from professionally trained local swimming coaches.

Outside the children are very lucky to have three playgrounds and two fields. One of the fields is outfitted with outdoor play equipment, which includes a climbing frame, a hang out hut, musical instruments and a swinging gauntlet!

We also have some of our land dedicated to growing our own fruit and vegetables. The children are involved in the planting and caring for them through our lunchtime gardening club. Our Eco Team also built a greenhouse made out of recyclable materials, which is also used to grow various plants, fruit and vegetables. Our Foundation stage has access to an outdoor area too, which allows for the children to learn through play and interact with the outside environment. Finally the school grounds include part of a woodland area which gives the children the opportunity to explore this type of environment in a safe way.
